Project Backstory

Tony, a homeowner in Fair Oaks, envisioned a complete transformation for his dated primary bathroom. The original tiled shower and countertops had grown dull and difficult to maintain, no longer reflecting the modern aesthetic he wanted for the space. Seeking a cleaner, more elevated look, Tony turned to Stokes Granite & Stone for a solution that would combine style, functionality, and long-lasting performance. The goal was to create a sophisticated retreat that felt timeless yet contemporary, with every detail carefully considered.

Location: Fair Oaks, CA

Project Materials

To achieve the desired result, the team selected 2CM Mystic Blue Quartzite in a polished finish. Quartzite, celebrated for its striking blue undertones and graceful movement, instantly became the focal point of the redesign. A mitered edge was crafted to give the shower and surrounding surfaces a seamless, high-end appearance that highlights the stone’s natural veining. Beyond its beauty, Mystic Blue Quartzite offers exceptional durability and resistance to moisture, making it an ideal choice for a primary bath environment. The finished installation brought together elegance, practicality, and expert craftsmanship in one cohesive update.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our quartz countertops here.

1. What makes quartzite different from quartz?

Quartzite is a natural stone that forms when sandstone is exposed to intense heat and pressure beneath the earth’s surface, creating an incredibly hard and durable material. Quartz, on the other hand, is an engineered surface made from ground natural quartz crystals combined with resins and pigments. Quartzite offers a unique, natural appearance with one-of-a-kind veining, while quartz provides a more uniform look and is non-porous due to its man-made composition.

2. Is quartzite a good choice for kitchen countertops?

Yes, quartzite is one of the most durable natural stone options for kitchens. It resists heat, scratching, and everyday wear extremely well. When sealed properly, it is also resistant to stains and easy to maintain. Many homeowners choose quartzite for its combination of natural beauty, long-term performance, and ability to handle the demands of a busy kitchen.

3. Does quartzite require regular sealing or maintenance?

Quartzite is a porous natural stone, so sealing is recommended to help protect it from moisture and stains. The frequency of resealing can vary depending on the type of quartzite and usage. Routine cleaning with mild soap and water is usually all that’s needed to keep the surface looking pristine. Avoid harsh or acidic cleaners to preserve the stone’s finish.

What our Customers are Saying

We had our second project done with Stokes. Everything went smooth and installers did whole kitchen countertop and back splash done in a day and cleaned the space before leaving. The fabricator discount that Stokes gave us while buying the slabs helped us a lot to save money and to buy the slabs that we liked. Overall; I am happy working with them and I will reach out to them for any future project we may have.

Stokes just installed new quartz countertops in my kitchen, laundry room and half bathroom. What a transformation to my house! The installation crew did an outstanding job. They were careful, courteous, friendly, and it was fun to watch the pros at work. Mike did a perfect job making the templates. Ashley was delightful to work with on all the paperwork and scheduling. I couldn’t be happier with everyone at Stokes. I happily give the my highest recommendation and would call them first in the future!
