Granite Suppliers: Before You Go Out, Read This!

Welcome! We hear you have decided to remodel your kitchen. One of the best places to start in a kitchen remodel is figuring out what you are going to put on your counter surfaces. There are a number of different options out there, one of the most popular options being Granite Countertops.

In the Sacramento Area, there are a number of Natural Stone Suppliers that sell Granite Slabs (raw sheets of natural stone, ranging in size typically 45-65 square feet each). Check out our Customer Support section on our website and click on the Supplier List link for a comprehensive list.

Before you head out to the Suppliers, you will want to prepare a few things first.

Bring a cabinet door/drawer with you. Make sure the sample is representative of what your cabinets will look like with your new countertops.

Take a paint sample. If you have an existing paint color, or you are considering a new one, make sure to bring that with you as well.

Bring a piece of your flooring. If you have hardwood, tile, laminate… bring it with you! It will help you match the new countertop color to what you have on the floor currently.

Bring a picture with you. Do you have an idea of what your dream granite will look like? It always helps to be able to show what you have in mind.

Know your budget. If you are hoping to keep the project cost down, keep that in mind as you are selecting your material.

Bring in an estimate from a licensed granite fabricator. This will help the supplier know that you are serious and you are working with someone on your project.

Wear weather appropriate clothes. Typically in slab yards there is no air conditioning or heating. You will want to be comfortable, so if you are going out in the winter time, bundle up!

Bring a camera, pen, and paper with you. You will want to be able to document the color choices that you are making. Some suppliers may give you small granite samples to take with you, but many of them may not be able to.
